Which SpeechExec desktop applications support SpeechLive?

SpeechLive is supported by the following desktop applications:

• SpeechExec Dictate 8.7* and later
• SpeechExec Transcribe 8.7* and later
• SpeechExec Pro Dictate 8.7* and later
• SpeechExec Pro Transcribe 8.7* and later

* We recommend to always update to the latest version with the automatic update function in SpeechExec.

Where is SpeechLive hosted?

The SpeechLive workflow system is hosted in 2 locations:
For Europe and countries outside of North America SpeechLive is hosted in a Microsoft data center in central Europe. For North America SpeechLive is hosted in a Microsoft data center in the USA. Account management is hosted in a data center in Austria.

What security measures are in place during file transfer, and are stored files encrypted?

During file transfer to and from SpeechLive we use the secure HTTPS protocol. While in the cloud storage, all data is encrypted with 256 bit encryption.

Is an Internet connection necessary to use SpeechLive?

To successfully use SpeechLive, you need to have a HTTPS connection to the Internet. Please contact your local IT administrator for further details.

Do you store my passwords?

Passwords are stored in a secure, encrypted format, protecting them from being stolen or compromised.

Can I use additional encryption to ensure that my dictations are secure?

Yes, you can use additional encryption on top of the SpeechLive encryption to secure your dictations.
To encrypt completed dictation jobs, you can use SpeechExec encryption methods.
To encrypt your dictation already during recording, you can use the 256 bit DSS Pro encryption on your voice recorder or with SpeechExec Pro Dictate software.

How secure are the data centers?

The data centers are designed to run 24/7 and they employ various measures to protect operations from power failure, physical intrusion, and network outages. The data centers comply with industry standards for physical security and reliability and are managed, monitored, and administered by Microsoft operations personnel. They are designed for ‘lights out’ operation. Further details on Windows Azure’s physical security can be found in the Microsoft trust center.

Will I be informed if there is a system failure, e.g. dictations or administration webpage is not accessible?

The SpeechLive system monitors whether all systems are running. In case of a system failure the administrator(s) will be informed via email. In addition, users can see the system status in the support area of the SpeechLive portal.

Will my data be passed on to third parties?

Per our Privacy Policy we will not sell or provide your personal data to third parties, thus preventing them from using your personal data for their own purposes. None of your personal financial information (such as credit card information) will be shared with other parties unless this is needed to handle your order, process our invoice, or prevent or combat fraud. For more information, please read the Privacy Policy on our website.

Can I purchase additional cloud storage?

SpeechLive offers up to 20 GB storage space per customer account based on a fair-use policy. Currently, we do not offer additional cloud storage space.

Do you store my payment data?

SpeechLive does not store any payment data. For recurring payment SpeechLive uses the secure interface of the payment provider.

I’d like to unsubscribe. How can I accomplish this?

Customers can unsubscribe in the 'Account' menu of the SpeechLive portal.

What happens if I decide to unsubscribe?

If you decide to cancel your subscription you can use SpeechLive until the payment period ends. Your account administrator will get notification emails 4 weeks and 2 weeks before the account is suspended. After this time you can still access your dictations for one month until your account expires. After this period, your account, including all dictations and user data, will be deleted from the system.

Does the advertised monthly price for SpeechLive require an annual commitment?

The advertised monthly price does not require an annual commitment for a small business package and an advanced business package. For these two business packages the costs are charged on a quarterly basis, so that customers are flexible in scaling the SpeechLive system according to their requirements.
The advanced business package plus is bound to a two years commitment, but costs are charged on a quarterly basis.

When will my credit card be charged and how can I update my information?

Your credit card will be charged at the beginning of the quarterly payment period, or if you upgrade the business package or the number of users. If there are any issues with the payment process, your account administrator will be informed via email and asked to supply new payment information.

If you need to change your payment information you can do that at any time, but we need to ask for small transaction costs to get the system updated outside the regular payment process.

What happens to my files in the cloud if I remove a user or cancel my subscription?

When you remove a user account to, all active dictations can be handed over to another user in the system. If you cancel your subscription completely, you can still access your dictations for another month to download a backup to a local network. After that period all dictations as well as all account information are automatically deleted.

What do I get with the free trial of SpeechLive?

Depending on the selected free trial business package you get access to a SpeechLive account with up to 10 users.
When using the small business package trial, you can configure up to 5 users where all authors are connected with all typists.
When using the advanced business package trial, you can configure up to 10 users where you can define which typist should be connected to which author. With the advanced business package trial, you can also use the professional online transcription player with foot control operation.

Regardless of the selected trial package, you can additionally download and use SpeechExec Pro Dictate and SpeechExec Pro Transcribe dictation and transcription software with trial licenses for all of your users.

Please note that you cannot downgrade your business package when finally purchasing a SpeechLive subscription.
